POSITION SUMMARY:
This position reports directly to the Corporate Controller and is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of balances, records and reporting as well as the development and mentoring of other staff members. Additionally, the position will also be involved in growth areas of the business to assist in implementing proper accounting treatment. Other ad hoc projects and responsibilities to be assigned as deemed appropriate.
This role is a hands-on Accounting position which also supports the inventory team. The daily activity of the inventory personnel is to ensure completeness and accuracy of the organization’s inventory details and subledger. This includes the recording of all inventory transactions in the ETRM system: processing of purchases, throughput, pipeline and terminal settlement invoices, reconciliation of pipeline and terminal statements, balancing of all subledger volume.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
- Responsible for review and reconciliation of subledger activities and balances.
- Maintain effective control procedures over key accounting processes.
- Research complex matters gaining an understanding of the operational intent and strategy of the transactions.
- Converse with operational leaders to understand the underlying business transactions and assess/advise the proper accounting treatment.
- Coordinate with team members within their daily and monthly activities related to inventory, monthly close activities, audits and associated inquires.
- Model provisions and applicable inventory configuration in ETRM system working closely with the Operational Accounting team.
- Provide excellent service via clear and professional communication to customers, colleagues and management. Establish business partnerships between the back office and the front office operational teams resulting in valuable collaboration.
